Electric Guitar
During senior high-school, I completed many Design related subjects - Engineering, Graphics, Construction, and Design & Technology. While there were many projects that I completed that formed my foundational skillset in Industrial Design, the Electric Guitar I built for Design & Technology in grade 12 was definitely my favourite project.
While this project doesn't necessarily showcase my Industrial design skills, it does demonstrate my prototyping & model making ability from a young age, whilst showcasing one of my earliest projects that inspired me to undertake Industrial Design at university. It also encompasses the thing I love most about design - making fun things that actually work.
This was my first experience in having creative freedom and writing my own brief.
From the earliest stages of my design career, "trusting the process" was drilled into me. At this point in time, it was - Research - Initial concepts - Concept development - Refinement - prototyping - testing & results - final design solution.
